Yesterday I realised once again how completely blind our flesh can make us to that which the Spirit of God wants to break down in you (self). We are our own very worst enemy.
Some of us are strong-willed, others are set in their ways or simply ignorant to keep the routine of what suits us. Not realizing that are our very own poison.
Yesterday I was reminded of what surrendering really means. A lot of us look at that word and we have a lot to say about it, we have much to teach others about it but we don't necessarily always look at our own lives to see where it plays a role for us.
Surrendering oneself is the big and the little things, it is the deep and the surfaced things, it is not a half and half action, it's not a short term action... it's the start of a beautiful journey with the Lord, it's a start of giving over, making yourself less and making Him more in you. It's the start of becoming a new person in the Lord.
Give over to the Lord, ask His opinion in everything that you need to do, for when we still think we know best, when we make decisions on our own wisdom, take steps without His guidance and act in what we feel, we are walking in complete disobedience. Walking in disobedience takes you further, deeper, wasting time and making it extremely difficult for oneself ro get to the root of what needs to change in you.
Since my husband and I have started Acts 29, I have been praying for the Lord to change me, to work out that which does not belong, I have been praying for Him to rule over my will, my wisdom, emotionsx my heart and my bad habits. But when the Lord brought forward these things in a way I never imagined He would, I was completely blind to it, I didn't realize that these were the uncomfortable, the hurting, the irritable, the angry making and things I was afraid to face that He was starting to bring forth. The least expected and the most mysterious.
Brothers and sisters, today I want to remind you and encourage you. Following Jesus Christ is not only about following His commandments but it's about fully surrendering to His Spirit to come live in so that we may walk in the supernatural with Him daily. Surrendering our old eyes for new eyes, surrendering our heart for a new heart, surrendering our minds for a new mind, surrendering our will to receive His will to reign in and over us in FULL.
So if you're facing the struggle of still living YOUR own ways, I pray that you will seek the Lord this morning and ask Him to reveal to you what it is that is His will for you, whether it's totally against your emotions or your opinions, surrender to His will, He has your best interest at heart.
IT STARTS WITH SURRENDER.
2 Corinthians 5:17-19Amplified Bible, Classic Edition (AMPC)
17 Therefore if any person is [ingrafted] in Christ (the Messiah) he is a new creation (a new creature altogether); the old [previous moral and spiritual condition] has passed away. Behold, the fresh and new has come!
18 But all things are from God, Who through Jesus Christ reconciled us to Himself [received us into favor, brought us into harmony with Himself] and gave to us the ministry of reconciliation [that by word and deed we might aim to bring others into harmony with Him].
19 It was God [personally present] in Christ, reconciling and restoring the world to favor with Himself, not counting up and holding against [men] their trespasses [but cancelling them], and committing to us the message of reconciliation (of the restoration to favor).
